Once again ... Thomas Beatie on the way to second baby	The transgender man who recently gave birth to a girl is having another child. Thomas Beatie, born Tracy, had a sex change 10 years ago but kept all of his female reproductive organs.
Thomas Beatie, who is 34 and sports a beard, told Walters he did not go back on the male hormone testosterone after Susan's birth because he and his wife Nancy wanted to have another baby. "I feel good," he said in the interview which will air on US network ABC on Friday. "I had my checkups with my hormone level ... everything is right on track," he said, adding that the couple's second child is due June 12. In the interview with Walters, Beatie also spoke about the birth of Susan, describing how he was in labor for 40 hours and his wife, Nancy, cut the umbilical cord of their daughter, who was not delivered by Caesarean section. Thomas Beatie was born and grew up in Hawaii. Known as Tracy when he was a girl, Beatie entered the Miss Teen Hawaii USA beauty contest at age 14 and made it to the finals, but says in the interview with ABC that he felt uncomfortable throughout the pageant. Beatie began a lesbian relationship with his current wife Nancy when he was 24, and in 2002, had "sex reassignment surgery" to remove his breasts. But he never had phalloplasty - surgery to create an artificial penis - and left his female reproductive organs in place, according to ABC. He and Nancy were legally married in 2003 and decided to start a family. But because Nancy had had a hysterectomy, it would fall to Thomas to carry the child. He stopped taking the male hormone testosterone and the couple looked for a doctor who would help them obtain sperm and inseminate Thomas. After nine doctors declined to help, the Beaties decided to take the do-it-yourself route. "First, they bought donor sperm on the Internet and Nancy Beatie used a syringe she had bought at a pet store to inseminate her husband," ABC News reported. "Soon after, a home pregnancy test confirmed that he was pregnant." It was not immediately clear if the couple used the same method to conceive their second child.

Tight security as US Vice-President jets in

Nairobi at exactly 8.27pm Monday night, at the start of a three-day visit widely seen as Washington’s acknowledgement of Kenya’s progress on the reform front.

Heavy security was laid out for President Barack Obama’s deputy, with parts of Nairobi rendered no-go zones 10 hours to his arrival.

A heavy traffic jam built up in Nairobi, and there was virtually no movement of vehicles from the city centre to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport from around 8pm.

A jovial-looking Biden, who is accompanied by his wife Dr Jill Biden, was received by Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka.

The US Number Two is on his second visit to Kenya, having been here 25 years ago. Last night, however, he did not speak to the journalists at the airport. He is expected to meet President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga this morning before addressing a joint press briefing with the President. Biden is expected to deliver a special message from Obama, whose father was Kenyan.

Biden’s visit comes at a time when Kenya is in the process of enacting a new constitution.

Last Thursday, Obama urged Kenyans to take advantage of the constitution review process to ensure sound governance and robust institutions in the country.

The American President said Kenya had immense potential to grow into an African powerhouse but blamed corruption and bad politics for the wanting state of affairs.

Constant Corruption

The US President, who has taken keen interest on developments in Kenya, said he planned to visit Kenya before the end of his presidency.

On the upcoming referendum, President Obama said: "Regardless of whether they vote Yes or No I just want to make sure they participate". He added: "I don’t think it’s any secret... to people I’ve talked to, including my family members, that there’s been frustration over the years, about the constant corruption that is preventing economic development".

Obama said he was sending his top emissary, Vice President Joe Biden to Kenya to convey his support for the constitutional process.

Before flying to Kenya, Biden had held talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. He will later proceed to South Africa for the opening ceremony of the Fifa World Cup, on Friday. Kalonzo said the American VP was welcome to interact and fraternise with Kenyans.

He said Biden was expected to Speak on reforms and discuss the security threat posed by Somalia.

"I hope the next one who comes calling after Biden will be President Obama himself," said Kalonzo. Yesterday, traffic was barred from some city roads and police announced that the arrangement would stay until Biden leaves.

Security at the airport was tight and cars parked close to the terminal Biden was to use were towed away to limit "unnecessary movement".

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officers, local General Service Unit (GSU) officers and US Secret

Service agents combed the JKIA for security threats.

In downtown Nairobi, motorists were turned away from roads adjacent to Hotel Intercontinental, where Biden will stay. Those affected are City Hall Way, Parliament Road and other adjacent roads.

Security at the hotel was beefed up and parking restricted. Other parking lots nearby were blocked by several security cars bearing US Embassy registration numbers.

Biden is the second US Vice-President to visit Kenya since Independence. The first was Hubert Humphrey, President Lyndon Johnson’s deputy, who landed in Nairobi from Mogadishu, Somalia, on January 7, 1968.

Kenya was then only five years into independence. President Johnson, also a Democrat like Obama, had been a personal friend of Kenya’s founding President Jomo Kenyatta, who was then the symbol of the struggle against colonialism.

Johnson had served as Vice-President to John F. Kennedy and was sworn-in as President on November 22, 1963, the day Kennedy was assassinated. He was re-elected in 1964 by 61 per cent of the vote and was, therefore, in office as Kenya worked its way out of the colonial yoke.

The US was instrumental in setting up structures to assist the new nation, including airlifts of Kenyan students to the United States.

Ideological Differences

The main issues in Kenya then included the crisis occasioned by secession attempts by the people of North Eastern Kenya and resulting sour diplomatic relationship with Somalia.

There was also the formation of the East African Community, which collapsed later due to ideological differences among the leaders.

It was against that background that Vice-President Humphrey flew to Kenya for a three-day visit. He met President Kenyatta, VP Daniel arap Moi, and impressed upon the Government the need to enhance ties with Somalia.

Parental Roots

Since then, the US has had nine presidents, including Barack Obama, who traces his parental roots to Kenya. National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende, who is scheduled to meet Biden today, expressed optimism that the visit would open doors for more co-operation between the two countries.

"We have many areas of co-operation particularly here in Parliament with the US Government and the visit will just strengthen those ties," added Marende.

Speaking of security, the Nairobi Area Provincial Police Officer Anthony Kibuchi had earlier met a team of police officers.

They included those from the GSU, regular, diplomatic, CID and other undercover units. The officers had at the weekend met their US counterparts to work out details on security. The interest of Secret Service officers, who arrived in the country ahead of Biden, has been two major hotels that Biden and his team of 62 officials will be staying in.

Also in their radar were places that the US VP will visit, including Parliament Buildings and the University of Nairobi.

The Secret Service’s role is ensuring the safety of US VIPs such as the President, past Presidents, Vice-Presidents, presidential candidates, their families and foreign embassies. The Secret Service is a US federal law enforcement agency that is part of the Department of Homeland Security. The sworn members are divided into Special Agents and a Uniformed Division.

Ardi Rizal mtoto mwenye umri wa miaka miwili ambaye amekuwa akivuta sigara 40 kwa siku amekuwa gumzo duniani baada ya video kutolewa ikumuonyesha mtoto huyo jinsi anavyovuta sigara kwa wingi huku akicheza na watoto wenzake.

Ardi alianza kuvuta sigara akiwa na umri wa miezi 18 lakini hivi sasa akiwa na umri wa miaka miwili wazazi wake wanalalamika kuwa amekuwa mvutaji sigara sugu kiasi cha kufanya vurugu kubwa sana anaponyimwa sigara.

"Ardi anaponyimwa sigara huwa mwenye hasira sana na hufanya vurugu na wakati mwingine hujibamiza kichwa chake ukutani", alisema mama yake Diana mwenye umri wa miaka 26.

Kutokana na unene wake na jinsi anavyovuta sigara kwa fujo, Ardi anashindwa kukimbizana na watoto wenzake.

Serikali ya Indonesia iliahidi kuipa familia ya Ardi zawadi ya gari jipya iwapo Ardi ataacha kuvuta sigara. Lakini jitihada zote za kumuachisha Ardi sigara zimegonga mwamba na badala yake Ardi huifanya familia yake itumie takribani Tsh. 8,000 kila siku kwaajili ya kumnunulia sigara.

Baba yake ambaye anafanya kazi ya kuuza samaki, haoni hatari inayomkabili mtoto wake na husema kwamba mtoto wake ana afya njema hana matatizo yoyote.

Omar resigns as KNCHR deputy

The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights vice chairman Hassan Omar has resigned.
He will, however, continue serving the rights body as commissioner.
Mr Omar said the vice chairman's role is largely administrative and he wanted to free himself so as to serve Kenyans in a wider capacity.
"I have held wide consultations with people in the human rights community and my family and resolved not to allow any kind of obstruction to block me from carrying out my duty as a human rights campaigner," Mr Omar said.
The KNCHR has been embroiled in wrangles pitting chairperson Florence Simbiri- Jaoko and Mr Omar centred on an alleged leak of vital witness protection information by a commissioner.
The witness is believed to be among those who have come forward to give their accounts on Kenya's post election violence that followed a disputed election in 2007.
Alleged leaks
A section of the commission led by Ms Jaoko wants disciplinary action to be taken against Mr Omar for speaking to the press about alleged leaks of witness information.
However, Mr Omar allayed fears of divisions between him and the vice chairperson.
He said he had nothing against Ms Simbiri-Jaoko only that they "disagree as professions but have a common cause".
Mr Omar described the KNCHR chairperson as "open minded" saying that he enjoyed working with her.
But, he said his differences with the other commissioners were "fundamental and irreconcilable".
The KNCHR released a report: On the brink of a precipice: A human rights account of Kenya's 2007 post election violence in which it linked 219 suspects to the chaos that left 1,133 people dead and a further 650,000 uprooted from their homes.

And although the sun is big, its intense heat and light makes it difficult to capture good images with normal instruments. So NASA scientists use an Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager and an Atmospheric Imaging Assembly detector to view the ultra-violet (UV) and extreme ultra-violet lithography (EUV) wavelengths released by the sun. The resulting images are spectacular.

Huang alisema kuwa mwaka 1948 alipokuwa na ujauzito mtoto wake alifia tumboni. Baada ya kutakiwa atoe dola 150 na hospitali aliyopelekwa ili kukitoa kiumbe hicho tumboni, Huang alikataa kutoa kiasi hicho cha fedha na kuamua kurudi nyumbani kwake.

Kwa kupuuzia kutoa kiumbe hicho alichokuwa nacho tumboni Huang alinyamaza kimya bila kuwaambia ndugu zake kwa miaka yote hiyo.

Matiti Yenye Uzito wa Kilo 12 Yamlaza Kitandani

Julia Manihuari [29] mama wa watoto wanne wa nchini Peru alisumbuliwa na ugonjwa wa ajabu ambao uliyafanya matiti yake yawe makubwa sana na kufikia ukubwa wa saizi N. Matiti yake yalikuwa na uzito wa kilo 12 hali iliyomfanya ashindwe kuendelea na shughuli zake za kila siku na kutumia muda mwingi kitandani. Julia alianza kuona mabadiliko kwenye matiti yake baada ya kujifungua mtoto wake wa tatu miaka saba iliyopita. Matiti yake yalizidi kuwa makubwa siku hadi siku. Alipojifungua mtoto wa nne, matiti yake yalizidi kuwa makubwa zaidi, titi la kushoto lilikuwa na uzito wa kilo tano wakati la kulia lilikuwa na uzito wa kilo saba. Wakati alipokuwa akisimama matiti yake yalikuwa yakimzidia uzito na alipokuwa akilala uzito wa matiti yake kifuani ulimfanya apumue kwa tabu. Kwa miaka kadhaa Julia aliendelea kuteseka na hali hiyo kwakuwa yeye na mumewe ni wakulima maskini na hawakuwa na uwezo wa kulipia gharama za matibabu. Julia hatimaye alifanikiwa kupata tiba mwaka huu baada ya wafadhili kujitokeza baada ya habari kuhusiana na mateso yake zilipotolewa kwenye magazeti. Madaktari nchini Peru walifanikiwa kuyafanyia operesheni matiti yake na kuyapunguza kufikia ukubwa wa saizi B. Julia hivi anaishi maisha ya furaha baada ya kuondokewa na uzito wa matiti yake uliomtesa kwa miaka mingi sana.

'Sigara Zimeniua'

Mzee Albert aliyefariki mwishoni mwa mwezi uliopita akiwa na umri wa miaka 85, aliacha wosia kuwa atakapofariki kaburi na jeneza lake liwekewe maneno hayo ili kuwaonya vijana wasije wakapoteza maisha yao kama alivyopoteza ya kwake kutokana na magonjwa yaliyotokana na uvutaji sigara.Mzee Albert aliteseka miaka mingi sana kutokana na matatizo ya mapafu, ugonjwa uliotokana na uvutaji wake uliokithiri wa sigara enzi za ujana wake.Bango lilitengenezwa na kuwekewa maandishi ya 'Sigara Zimeniua' kabla ya jeneza lake kuzungushwa kwenye mitaa kadhaa ya mji wa Dover uliopo kilomita 160 toka jijini London.Kwenye kaburi lake nako kuliwekewa bango kama hilo ambalo inasemekana litakaa hapo kwa muda wa wiki moja.Mzee Albert kabla ya kufariki alikuwa akiwausia vijana kuhusiana na madhara yanayotokana na uvutaji wa sigara.
